There are lots of studies on the effects of plastics vs. reusable products (reusable wins out in all of them except for one funded by a disposable diaper company and I believe that one was later debunked). The thing that always comes up is not only are you dealing with having to dispose of all those plastics… it actually takes just as much water (sometimes more) and oil to make the product prior to getting it to you. Machinery and industry sucks a lot of water. So rest easy, it is definitely better for the environment.
